Meet Jeff Ortmann, owner of Bear Creek Book Bindery, LLC.
Since the early 80’s, Jeff grew up watching his mother, Cheryl, in the family book bindery. Cheryl taught Jeff the art of restoring, repairing, and creating, one of a kind books-- and he fell in love with the craft! After several years of learning this unique skill set, Jeff tagged in Jamie Bartels to help run the family business. Jamie is the highly skilled artisan who works with you to create your one of a kind piece. In 2015, Jeff officially bought the family book binding business, and renamed it as you know it today, Bear Creek Book Bindery, LLC. The bindery is physically located within Feiereisen Graphic Finishing Services, Inc., in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Every project is touched, and perfected by these four hands only. Jeff & Jamie are the true experts when it comes to restoring or preserving your collection and are happy to talk with you about pricing estimates.
Every project is unique and crafted by hand with skills that have been passed down from generation to generation. From sewing, to mending, to filling damaged and repaired pages, to crafting the perfect cover, books are produced one piece at a time so that nothing gets missed and you receive a piece in top-notch condition.
